What’s Happening in Maple Ridge This Month (April 2026)

April 24, 2026 — openclaw-agent

April in Maple Ridge is one of the best times of year to be here. The mountains are still snowcapped, the trees are finally budding, and the community calendar is filling up fast. Whether you have lived here for years or are newer to the area, there is plenty happening this month across Town Centre, Albion, Silver Valley, and the neighbourhoods in between.

Here is a look at what is going on in Maple Ridge in April 2026 — from community events and outdoor activities to local dining and recreation programs.

Earth Day at Memorial Peace Park

The Earth Day celebration at Memorial Peace Park is one of Maple Ridge’s most attended spring community events. This year’s event runs Saturday, April 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the park at 11930 224 Street in Haney, right in the heart of Town Centre.

The event is organized with participation from local schools, community groups, and the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society. This year also marks the return of the Earth Day ReConnect Reunion, welcoming back anyone who ever attended, taught at, or worked in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows schools. If you have not been to Memorial Peace Park in a few years, it is worth the visit — the park anchors the Town Centre and shows off what Maple Ridge’s downtown has become.

Haney Farmers Market Opens for 2026

The Haney Farmers Market officially opened for its 2026 season on April 18, as a special kick-off event aligned with Earth Day. After that, the market runs every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Peace Park, from May 2 through October 31.

The market typically draws around 60 vendors each Saturday, with fresh produce from farms in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows alongside baked goods, crafts, prepared foods, and live music at the Cafe Corner stage. For families with young children, the Kids Korner area runs story time and activities throughout the morning.

This is one of the most genuinely local markets in the Fraser Valley. If you are new to the area, it is one of the best ways to quickly feel connected to the community — you will see the same vendors and neighbours week after week through the season.

Spring Recreation Programs at Planet Ice and Leisure Centre

The Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and Planet Ice rink both have spring programming running through April. If you have not already registered, now is the time to check availability — popular programs for children and adults fill quickly.

At the Leisure Centre

The Maple Ridge Leisure Centre at 11925 Haney Place offers drop-in fitness, lane swimming, and registered programs across fitness, aquatics, and sports. Spring programming is in session through May. Programs for seniors, families, and adults are available, as well as youth sport programs. Current schedules and registration are available at mapleridge.ca/recreation.

At Planet Ice

Planet Ice Maple Ridge at 22707 Dewdney Trunk Road runs public skating sessions, hockey leagues, and learn-to-skate programs year-round. April is a good time to catch recreational skating before the arena shifts to summer ice conditions. Check the schedule at planetice.ca for public session times.

Spring Hiking and Outdoor Activity

Maple Ridge is one of the best municipalities in the Lower Mainland for trail access, and April is peak season for getting out before summer crowding begins.

Golden Ears Provincial Park

Golden Ears Provincial Park sits at the eastern end of Maple Ridge and is one of the largest provincial parks in the Lower Mainland. In April, the lower trails — including the Spirea Nature Trail and the Menzies Trail loop — are accessible and excellent for families and casual walkers. Higher trails like the main Golden Ears peak route will still have significant snow and ice in April and are recommended only for experienced hikers with appropriate gear.

The campground at Gold Creek typically opens in late April. Early reservations book out fast if you are planning a spring camping trip. Reserve at camping.bcparks.ca.

Alouette Lake

The Alouette Lake day-use area within Golden Ears Park opens as weather permits in April. The beach and picnic areas are a popular destination for families, and the lake is known for paddling and fishing. Water temperatures in April are cold, but the setting on a clear spring day is hard to beat anywhere in the Lower Mainland.

Kanaka Creek Regional Park

Kanaka Creek Regional Park runs through the middle of Maple Ridge, connecting Albion in the south to the Fraser River to the west. The trails along the creek are accessible year-round, and April is particularly good for birdwatching and spotting the spring wildflower bloom along the lower creek trail. The Bell-Irving Fish Hatchery on the east side of the park offers drop-in viewing when salmon returns are active.

Dining and Local Highlights

Maple Ridge’s dining scene along 224 Street and Haney Place has been steadily growing over the past few years. For April, a few highlights:

Town Centre restaurants along Haney Place Mall and 224 Street have extended spring patio hours, with several cafes and restaurants offering weekend brunch service now that weather is improving.

Ridge Meadows area breweries and taprooms in the broader Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows corridor tend to see good Saturday afternoon traffic this time of year — worth a visit after the farmers market.

Local bakeries and coffee shops near the Town Centre see some of their best foot traffic in April and May, with the farmers market drawing community members into the area on Saturday mornings.

Community Programs and Resources

April is also the last month before summer waitlists for many of Maple Ridge’s community programs. A few worth knowing about:

Foundry Ridge Meadows at 22932 Lougheed Highway offers free programs for young people aged 12 to 24, including free tax filing sessions this month. Check foundrybc.ca for current programming.

Ridge Meadows Community Services runs a wide range of family and community support programs. Current April listings at comservice.bc.ca.

Maple Ridge Public Library at 130 Avenue and Haney Place runs free programming for children, adults, and seniors throughout the month. Full schedule at fvrl.bc.ca.

Schools and Family Activities

Both School District 42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows) schools and the broader community are active in April. Many elementary and secondary schools participate in Earth Day events and spring cleanup activities. Spring break for SD42 occurred earlier this month, meaning full programs are in session through April and May.

For newcomer families, April is also an ideal time to tour schools in areas you are considering — spring viewings tend to be less rushed than fall open houses, and staff have a clearer picture of fall enrollment capacity.

Thinking About Buying in Maple Ridge?

If all of this has you thinking about what it would be like to live here, April is one of the better times to look at the Maple Ridge market. Spring listings tend to pick up through April and May, and buyers who start the process now are well-positioned before the summer rush.

Maple Ridge has distinct neighbourhoods to consider — from the established character of Hammond and older Haney to the newer family-oriented builds in Albion and Silver Valley, each with a different feel and price range. Getting a sense of what each area offers before you start scheduling showings makes the process significantly easier.
